The sea of Rome, half an hour from the Colosseum.

No platform commission on top: what you pay is what reaches us.

You talk to us

No call centre. The person who answers is the person with the keys.

Set times

Check-in 2–6 pm at Lungomare, 3–6 pm at Porto; check-out by 11 am. Always tell us your arrival time at least three hours ahead.

Two houses, one host

A few minutes apart — take both when you travel as a group.

House one · Facing the beach

Shogun Lungomare

Lungomare Duca degli Abruzzi 42 — the balcony looks over the promenade and the breakwaters. You cross the road and you are on the sand.

Il tramonto sul mare davanti alla casa, a Ostia

A classic seaside apartment, kept the way you would keep your own: a double bedroom, a living room with a dining table and sofa bed, a proper kitchen and a bathroom with a washing machine. Air conditioning throughout, a smart TV with Netflix, a coffee machine for the morning.

What makes it is the position. The Ostia promenade is right outside — beach clubs and free beach, bars, the pier — and in the evening the sun goes down straight ahead of the balcony.

House two · Terrace over the marina

Shogun Porto

Largo del Porto di Roma 31 — inside the marina complex, with a terrace that runs along the whole apartment and looks over the boats and the sea.

La tavola apparecchiata sul terrazzo di Shogun Porto, con il mare sullo sfondo

Recently renovated and deliberately plain: pale wood, white walls, everything where you expect it. A double bedroom with its own window onto the terrace, an open living room with dining table and sofa bed, a kitchen with dishwasher, microwave and washing machine, one bathroom with a large shower.

The terrace is the reason to choose this one. It is furnished for dinner outside, it catches the light until late, and below it the marina fills up with boats and restaurants in the evening.

The tour · 33 seconds

Assembled from the photos on this page. A filmed walkthrough is on its way.

The apartment, and the Ostia around it — sunsets and beach are a few minutes away.

Around

Rome without staying in Rome.

Ostia is the sea of Rome: the city is a train ride away, the airport is closer still, and the Roman ruins of Ostia Antica are round the corner. Times below are indicative.

2'

The beach

Dark sand, breakwaters, beach clubs and free stretches along the whole promenade.

5'

Marina of Rome

Restaurants, bars and moorings — the evening walk of Ostia.

15'

Ostia Antica

One of the best preserved Roman towns in Italy, and far quieter than Pompeii.

20'

Fiumicino airport

By car — useful for an early flight or a late landing.

35'

Rome, Piramide

The Metromare line runs from Ostia to Piramide, on metro line B.

Parking

Free on-street parking at both houses — no permit, no meter, no garage fee.

Electric car

Charging points within 100 m of both houses — Enel, Eni and Acea columns with standard Type 2 sockets, in roaming with most other networks.

Getting around

Bike and scooter sharing racks on the seafront and at the marina — the easiest way to move along the coast.

Getting here

Three ways to reach us.

From the airport, from Rome, or from wherever you are right now. Pick your house and tap: the map does the rest, with live times.

Check-in is 2–6 pm at Lungomare and 3–6 pm at Porto. Check-out is by 11 am. Work backwards from that when you book flights and trains. Always tell us your arrival time at least three hours ahead, even within those hours: someone has to be there with the keys. Outside them we can arrange it, with the same notice.

Your house:

Taxi

Taxis wait at the airport rank, no booking needed.

Worth knowing: Rome's fixed airport fares only cover the historic centre. Ostia is outside that zone, so the meter applies — make sure it is running from the start, and do not accept a flat price agreed in advance.

For the airport run, in both directions, the Ostia radio taxi is usually cheaper than a cab caught in Rome: +39 06 5601646. Ask the price on the phone when you call, and you can book ahead for your departure. The call is yours to make — we do not book taxis or private drivers for guests.

Practical

What our guests always ask us.

Where to buy groceries, where we go to eat, how to reach Rome. The answers we give on WhatsApp every week, written down once.

Directions from:

Where we eat

Not a list copied off the internet — the places we actually go to.

The beach

Free stretches of sand and beach clubs with sunbeds and umbrellas, all along the promenade. Ask us which ones we like — it changes from year to year.

Moving around

Bike and scooter sharing racks on the seafront and at the marina, free on-street parking at both houses, and EV charging points within 100 m.

Anything missing? Write to us — we answer the same day, before and during your stay.

Booking

Ask us directly.

Tell us the dates and which house you have in mind. We answer with availability and the direct rate — no commission on top.

We usually reply the same day. Check-in is 2–6 pm at Lungomare and 3–6 pm at Porto, check-out by 11 am, and we need your arrival time at least three hours ahead: tell us roughly what time you expect to be there.

How it works

No automatic calendar, no card details typed into a website: you write to us and a person answers.

  • You send the dates — from the form, by email or on WhatsApp.
  • We reply the same day with availability and the direct rate.
  • You confirm, and we agree on how to pay — no platform commission on top.
  • We fix the arrival time together: check-in is 2–6 pm at Lungomare and 3–6 pm at Porto, check-out by 11 am. Whatever the time, we need to know it at least three hours ahead — someone has to be there with the keys. A time outside those hours can be arranged, with the same notice.
